Hello world! I’m Erik. My goal is to spread useful, cutting-edge knowledge through building, researching, and teaching.
I’m an artificial intelligence researcher at the National Polytechnic Institute, the Chief Data Scientist at Extrasense, and the founder of Actumlogos. I am supported by a scholarship from the Mexican National System of Researchers. E-mail: ezamorag@ipn.mx
I possess the expertise to execute machine learning and deep learning projects, from 0 to 1; from initial conception to deployment. My skills include creating and refining datasets from the ground up, developing and evaluating ML/DL models, and effectively integrating and maintaining these systems in a production setting.
More broadly, my work usually involves autonomous navigation for mobile robots, computer vision, and artificial neural systems.
Achievements
- Developed an advanced rat detection and pest insect identification system based on image analysis for Extrasense 2019-Today.
- Developed a navigation system for mobile robots in unknown environments that is guided by emergency signals for the University of Bristol (UK), 2014.
- Developed the first commercial Mexican myoelectric system to control a prosthesis owned by the PRO/BIONICS company, 2007.
- Developed better methods for morphological neural networks in a two-year postdoctoral stay at the CIC-IPN 2016-2017.
- Received the award SNI 1 from the National System of Researchers (S.N.I.) in Mexico since January 2020.
- Co-founder of the Hackeando Tec channel on YouTube where online classes on neural networks, fuzzy logic, computer vision, FPGAs and ARM micro-controllers are disseminated. This channel already has more than 16,100 subscribers and more than 1.62 million views.
- Co-founder of the company Actumlogos whose mission is to spread and train more people in the use of frontier technologies: Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, etc.
- Being a Professor at the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico since 2008.

Short Biography
I enjoy applying and disseminating frontier knowledge: building, researching, and teaching. Co-founder of Actumlogos and Extrasense, a professor-researcher at CIC-IPN, and a graduate from CINVESTAV-IPN with a doctorate (2015) and a master’s degree in science (2007). I have published scientific papers in international conferences and journals; has supervised doctoral and master’s theses, and final projects. My research areas focus on neural models and autonomous robots.
